Tourism Potential of Virtual Reality: Innovative VR Hotelo Project Presented at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, Croatia

At the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zagreb, on 22/12/2023, a lecture entitled “Tourist potentials of augmented reality” was held, organized by Prilika Group with professor Assoc. Ph.D. Petra Barisic. During the lecture, the “VR Hotelo” project was presented, focused on the use of XR technology in the tourism sector. Ante Fumic explained in detail the possibilities that VR technology offers for hotel groups, both in B2C (business to consumers) and B2B (business to businesses) form. The VR Hotelo project illustrates the potential of augmented reality (XR) to improve the user experience in the hotel industry, with real examples from practice and feedback from the market.

In the second part of the lecture, Bruno Cutic, editor-in-chief of the VirtualnaStvarnost.net portal, explained and demonstrated devices such as Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3 to students. Students had the opportunity to personally try these devices and experience 360 ​​video and mixed reality (MR). His demonstrations delighted the students, and Ćutić explained the technical aspects and potential of VR in the tourism sector, additionally informing them about the practical applications of XR technologies.

During the event, students asked a number of interesting questions about the development phase of the project, especially about the R&D (research and development) for VR Hotel and when it is expected to be released on the market.
