Presentation of VR Hotelo at the AgroRocks Conference in Osijek: Digitizing Rural Tourism

Osijek, October 4, 2024 — At this year’s AgroRocks conference, organized by Agroklub with a focus on digitalization in agriculture and tourism, the innovative project VR Hotelo was introduced. This platform aims to revolutionize how accommodation, campsites, and hotels, particularly in rural areas such as Slavonia, are promoted. The goal of the platform is to enhance the tourism offer through the use of virtual reality (VR) and digital tools, transforming traditional approaches and providing modern solutions for destination promotion.

One of the key benefits of VR Hotelo is that the platform completely replaces traditional paper brochures typically found at reception desks or tourist locations. Instead of conventional brochures, tourists can use the VR app, offering them an interactive and visually rich view of accommodation facilities and attractions in a virtual environment. This approach not only saves resources but also provides a more modern, dynamic way of communicating with visitors, making destinations more accessible and appealing.

VR Hotelo also offers a VR 360 recording and production service, provided by the platform’s expert team. This technology enables the recording of accommodation facilities and surrounding natural beauty from a perspective that gives users a complete experience of the space, as if they were there in person. Virtual tours include detailed views of rooms, exteriors, and key nearby tourist attractions such as cultural landmarks, wine tours, or adventure activities. This method of presenting accommodation and destinations significantly enhances potential guests’ experience and helps them make more informed booking decisions.

Particular emphasis was placed on the opportunities VR Hotelo brings for rural tourism, aiming to attract more visitors to lesser-known, yet authentic and rich natural destinations. The platform allows accommodation owners to digitally showcase their offerings in an interactive way, thus increasing the visibility and accessibility of their services in the digital world.

Participants of the AgroRocks conference highlighted that VR Hotelo represents a significant step forward in the digitalization of the tourism sector, especially in rural parts of Croatia. Integrating technologies such as VR into the tourism industry opens new opportunities for promoting and enhancing rural destinations, allowing local communities to showcase their unique features and attract a broader audience.

Conclusion:
The presentation of VR Hotelo at the AgroRocks conference demonstrated how digital solutions like this platform can transform the tourism offer, replace traditional paper brochures, and create a new way of presenting destinations. Through VR 360 recordings and interactive virtual tours, the platform provides tourists with a complete experience of accommodation and natural beauty, contributing to the development of rural tourism in Slavonia and beyond.
